County’s coronavirus count rises to 159

SAN DIEGO — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in San Diego County rose from 131 on Friday to 159 on Saturday, county health officials said.

Of the 159 people in the county who have been positively diagnosed, 135 are county residents, 11 are in federal quarantine and 13 are not county residents.

Health officials said 34 patients have been hospitalized, 25 of whom are county residents. Twelve county residents were in intensive care, as well as one other non-county resident.

The uptick in case numbers came during the county’s first weekend under a statewide “stay at home” order, which Gov. Gavin Newsom issued Thursday evening.
